Neo-life ...

Muzik :: Richard Marx - Right Here Waiting (for you)
Mood :: FINEtastic!
Book :: Wiley, Information Security Principles and Practice (2006)

Neo-life ... Neo as in the literal sense of new, not a reference to Keanu Reeves or the Matrix. Life used to be "Mehnat Karne Se Kya Fayda" ... now it's more like "...?" ... no time to really think and reflect, so much to do! Even now, it's holdays, vacation time ... or is it? There's the internship, the simulation project, this cool crypto book I am reading, SISS work (fortunately not too much!) ... and then I take it all with a smile ... There's a lot more to do than say 8 months ago, but it's fun.

The internship is finally looking up, it's kinda fun now, just takes some time getting used to like I said. Mehul's getting married on the 3rd ... wonder if he'll ever read this ... anyways, Bhai will be here tomorrow ... which mean I MUST finish off the simulation project NOW and if possible submit it as well!

Hey you guys should really try out Not pr0n, it's supposed to be the hardest riddle on the net. It's great fun, I made it till level 16 so far, thanks Euquin for the link!

Anyways, time is short, life's not; so, I'll be back ... after I am done with the project!

The rain goes on ...

Muzik :: Artists: Colleagues || Album: Office Sounds || Songs: Phone-ringing, People-Chatting and Fingers-Typing.
Mood :: Wasted yet Constructive
Book :: Inception Report!

At work again ... damn I still haven't done my simulation project, standing on the edge now. Should've used the weekend more productively. It's sad and frustrating when you know just what to do all along but for reason or no apparent reason, you simply don't do it!

Anyways, yesterday's FIFA match was fun ... it was Portugal v/s Netherlands ... there was just one goal scored and well 4 red cards dealt out ... and I think a total of 14 ... it was more like wrestling! Every time someone picked up a card a fist-fight inclusive of pushing, pulling, tugging, nudging, head-bangs! ... and of course ... kicking broke out.

Wonder what other folks are upto ... was thinking they'd be enjoying their hols ... but the more I hear about the more of them seem to a part of the work force, intern-ing in places with grandiloquent brand images.

Anyways, priority one now is to finish of the Simulation Project and submit it, then focus on the internship job. Blurrr ... lotsa other knick-knacks to do.

Well here are a few more signs that the intern isn't working out ...

Office Office

Muzik :: Mehul - Hey Bhagwan (coz there's no light ... Details later)
Mood :: Drifting ...
Book :: Kelton's - Simulation with Arena.

So here I am sitting at my "workstation" @ 1725 hrs IST and well there's a power-cut. For those unacquainted with the term it's when there is no electricity ... yes, that happens here, a lot! So anyhow, here I am sitting on a desktop typing away into my MSN window [I tabbed blogger into it - MSN Messenger :)]. Oh and for those of you still stuck up on the power-cut, well I am still able to blog because only one phase has gone (just my luck!) so there're no lights, fans or aircon but the desktop terminal is still alive and we're expected to slog through conditions that can easily be classified as sweltering. And that causes Mehul, the guy sitting next to me yelp a plea of "Hey Bhagwan" which can roughly be translated to OMG.

So now coming back to the topic ... Office. Well as much as I'd love to, it wouldn't be apt for me to reveal the true nature of things that go through the medium of this blog, all I can say is that it's an experience like you'd never have expected ... and one that takes a while to settle into.

Anyways, now a days, I am in a cycle that ensure I can't do anything even mildly productive (barring the work @ office). I need to break free now and complete the simulation project ... refer book section above.

My last few posts were ones typed in a real hurry, well now that I can blog from office without having to go through IE I guess the next few will be a bit more read-worthy.

Hey, lights're back ... guess I'll get back to work ... anyways, every[working]one should try blogging via MSN Messenger by tabbing the service provider ... MSGPlus! Boss mode (+Global Keys+) complements it really well!

A comic strip to end the post ... (click to enlarge)

That's all for now.

Ramblings ...

Muzik :: Kelly Clarkson - Gone
Mood :: Mind Straying Away
Book :: Dan Brown - Angels & Demons [Yep, still reading it ... Hey! I am on intern here, gimme a break! No time to read :( ]

So Here I am rambling again ... I'll be away for the weekend. Thoughts in head, it's simply amazing how we mean to be just friendly and without even realising it, end up saying something that seems just so wrong. Is it just the fact that communication is now more via text [SMS / internet] and has lost the 'human touch' ... or are the perspectives of the two so different that anything said, just doesn't mean the same thing ... or is it just the mind playing tricks ...?

Moving along ... internships can be boring ... they really don't work you to your potential, I'd expect that ... but it's utterly hopeless when the assigned work is something you could do even if you never went to school ... make you almost regret ever having gone to school =P. Anyhow, it'll still be some fun working here ...

Hey Geri ... completely sympathize with you ... now I see why your internship had you down ... and now I under stand Joanna's reactions to the word "internship". Really can't say she didn't give a fair warning.

Okie, I've gotta leave in about 15 mins, still to pack up my stuff ... will blog again ... sometime soon ... hopefully!

Ps.: Happy Birthday Bro!

Espirit De Icarus

Man has forever been striving for freedom, and in a manner of speaking, dreaming to break free and fly away. It's not a new dream, to 'spread your wings and fly'. We see it in myths (the flight of Icarus), you must've experienced it in your own lives and today, we hear it in songs (Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway, R.Kelly - I believe I can fly ...) too. So what happens when a bunch of SMU students get bent upon the idea of flight? No, you don't get the Wright Bros. again ... but close! You get the SMUXceed Skydiving Team. Why you may ask would anyone want to jump out of a plane in flight with no imminent threat? Let's find out ...

Ngiang Boon Loong wishes to skydives because, "The spirit of skydiving is one of believing that nothing is impossible ..." while Paul says "To push myself both physically and mentally; taking a step toward finding my own limitations and extremes and going outside my own comfort-zone. " So, what's my take on it having been a part of the same team? Well coz this is as 'extreme' as is available to me right now ... I'd love to go a step further, but alas.

So they tread this path to conquer the skies and in their walk do they conquer their fears? Most people do find the thought of jumping out of a plane cruising somewhere across the blue yonder scary. Do the daredevils of the skies have apprehensions? They recently excursion-ed to Genting, Malaysia for an ultimate vertical wind-tunnel thrust and here are some thoughts before they went in ... well at least here's mine, "Big Tunnel, with big fan and lotsa wind … Hope it’s fun!"

In India ...

Muzik :: 3 Doors Down - Here Without You
Mood :: Reality sinking in ... old reality fading into fantasy.
Book :: Dan Brown - Angels & Demons [It talks of vertical wind-tunnels ... Wheee!]

So it's been about half a month since I landed in India, and it's been a bit boring. Well, there isn't a vertical wind-tunnel in here, nor do we have a wall handy to climb up and belay on. Did manage to play a round of badminton though. Read a few books. Got a consultancy assignment at Deloitte. Well, nothing much to do for now. Better finish up my simulation project before it hits me as 'late work'. Also need to do up the sky-diving article for Vié ...

Angeloid picks nice time to play Silence, an ancient ritual called upon at times of anger, disappointment or total boredom. Lahira drops a "potli" of mangoes and retreats to the over-crowded city of Mumbai from whence he came. Though, every mango now unlock whips of sweet memories which linger for a while and endure with evanescence, just enough to leave a bittersweet after-taste. Sonu leaves for the same dreaded place soon ... tomorrow in fact! Even Princess left the land and moved to Ahmedabad. It's not what it used to be, but a barren land, and I stand alone ... nah!

Well, here's my say [the good part!], Angeloid, Silence, aren't we a bit too old for that game? Lahira, well, um ... er ... Thanks for the mangoes? Sonu, cya in the morning dude! Princess, I remember someone saying something about change in a email [hey, you know I tend to remember trinkets] ... you'll survive.

Goddess, stop worrying SO much, go listen to "Just a Ride" by Jem ... or learn from Manu [itna sikhaya, kuch seekh bhi lo!]. Bhayu, ab aap se kya kahen, bajatey jao ... Madam Butterfly, [not referring to the composition] you could consider replying sometimes when logged into MSN.

Now phasing into my Sg world ... Phel [hey, it's my blog, so you get the nick, I like =)] don't over-work yourself over the o-camp [I know it sounds hopeless coming from me, but trust me] well, at least don't worry so much about it! Debs, website content ... still waiting. Geri! Thanks so much for staying in touch, I know your internship is killing you, and you're thinking was it really a good choice, yet thanks for finding time. =)

Well that's about it for now ... closing quote follows ...

"There's always a reason, to feel not good enough, and it's hard at the end of the day ... remember, everyone's fighting that battle"
