Also nice to be working with Kang wei, Darren, Ailina, Yulin and others whom I didn't get to work with directly in MetamorphoSIS. It also introduced me to Friendster (no, I already knew it existed, but now I am member).

Enter 'aYgur': I met this guy during the freshmen meet-up lunch and he's pretty interesting. I might end up working with him on some projects. Well that's all abt him, he'd like to remain "low-profile". Note : name obfuscated for the same reason.

Philip goes home: Philip's gone back ... so now I need to find someone to go swimming with ... then again, school will re-open soon. Anyways, it was fun while he was around ... doing stuff like watching "Life of Brian" in a meeting room with the Dell speakers. Hope to stay in touch with him.

The SIS Orientation Camp just ended yester-to-day so the memories are still very fresh. Well all in all it was fun and the freshmen enjoyed themselves. It was interesting to see though the dynamics of the team morph and play out during the camp. It was really nice to work

Tanu: Super-woman, can be the I/C of three things concurrently
Don: Stay rational, stay calm
Felix: "May I know, who needs the broom?" Seriously, really nice to work with you. If I had just a word, it'd be 'focused'
Marylin: Nice to get to know you, always working, never say die
Maoyuan: Look, it's Flash-god!
Mark: Nice working with you dude, lets see if I can find time to help you guys with the video
Aaron: It's you again, didn't we get enough of you @ WWDC? No way! It was nice working with you again :)
Melinie: Vice-Chair and Secretary - a 2 in 1 combo, nice job of meticulous planning.
Alex: "Where can I help?"
Duan Jie: "Could you give me honest feedback for the games ..."
Dave: "Bro, can help me do ... am really busy today? Thanks Bro." BTW, thanks for the flour!
Andy Soh: Egg-head! Sorry couldn't resist the temptation. Thanks for making the camp fun and lively. It was really nice getting to know you through the camp and look forward to working with you again on more exciting endeavours. All the effort and work you put into the camp will surely be remembered all of us and all the grateful freshmen! :)

Long Meetings and Sleepless nights.
Andy Williams: The cheerleader! "Everyone, repeat after me ... Do as I say ... Early morning, late at night, the org comm charges out to fight, singing, Chiku-cha Chiku-cha Chiku-cha-cha-cha" ... nice work on the clue sheets man
An Dien: The Game-boy ... BTW, I agree; numbered shirts would've been cool. Anyways, no more printing for An Dien, ever!
Ivan: Nice job with the games ... and putting up with An Dien's antics! ;)
Jaclyn: Frisbee girl ... nice work on the family day planning ... 'ReSIStor table'
Aditya: Why can't the speech be PRISM-style? On a completely different topic, good work on the sponsorship ... more-or-less ... :)
Zulikha: "I am the I/C, I think ..." Good job taking charge back then ... I seriously don't mind sleeping on the stage for the team, if that's what it takes.
Gua Hao: Hope your internship wasn't affected too much by the camp
Shun Ping: You'd better ace CAT now :P
Vivek: Hope you had fun in California, we could've used an extra hand at the camp though.
Kang Wei: Will see you @ StarringSMU part 2 ...
Ce-wei: Thanks for the lift and all the hard work, the log team rocked!
Wei fung: "Smile, don't worry, you'll be OK"
Augustine: The safety and health guy, who wouldn't eat bananas and go sky-diving?
Cheryl: The happy faci, happy leader ... smile more!
Fredric: It was nice getting to know you during our retreat, too bad you couldn't find time to enjoy the camp with us.
Darren: I'll see you @ StarringSIS ... :)

Also nice getting to know Yulin, Yeena, Ailina, Nicholas, Kelvin[s], Saurav, Xue Shan, Ayush, Navin, Yash, Alex Chong and other folks whose name I don't quite know / remember ....

So, what's next? StarringSMU part 2 - National Day Parade, Human Flag formation, that's day after on the 8th to the 10th ... more on that later.

And now for something completely different ... Interestingly I bumped into Jit today and he was asking for the pics too ...

Hmmm, well it's back to work now, with the internal presentation looming closer by the day [it's on the 18th of July] I need to start the Yahoo dictionary search for CC content and try and plot the data from the CC-Mixter community in a social network analysis tool. BTW Mike's and our presentations from the i-commons summit can be found here.

Also thanks to Steve's interest in the Interactive Digital Media, Special Interest Group that I am to initiate I'll be meeting with folks from TDM [The Digital Movement]. I'll see if I can get them to help us with the launch of the Singapore CC licenses.

I also need to work on the stuff for MetamorphoSIS 07, like setting up a registration system which is quick and easy to use.

I guess I'll have to get something to watch soon, I've seen all 4 seasons of "Penn and Teller: Bullshit" (worth the watch) and I am left with only 5 un-watched episodes of Pinky and the Brain. Co-authoring another paper for CC-Monitor, doing another project for SCB I-Lab and possibly going back to SFO to meet with Mike and other CC folk, reps from Google, Yahoo and the internet archive. And then there is the Orientation camp - metamorphosis, community service and bunch of other things ...

Started swimming now, planning to go on all weekdays with Philip [the German guy whom I am helping out with VBA for his masters project :P]

Okie thats the general picture as of now. Here's something I noticed, flip almost anything around and half the time [irrespective of what it is] it reads the words in fine print "Made In China". It's great fun, I made it till level 16 so far, thanks Euquin for the link!

Anyways, time is short, life's not; so, I'll be back ... after I am done with the project!

Close quote: "We are both atheists, it's just that I believe in one god less than you."

The rain goes on ...

Muzik :: Artists: Colleagues || Album: Office Sounds || Songs: Phone-ringing, People-Chatting and Fingers-Typing.
Mood :: Wasted yet Constructive
Book :: Inception Report!

At work again ... damn I still haven't done my simulation project, standing on the edge now. Should've used the weekend more productively. It's sad and frustrating when you know just what to do all along but for reason or no apparent reason, you simply don't do it!

Anyways, yesterday's FIFA match was fun ... it was Portugal v/s Netherlands ... there was just one goal scored and well 4 red cards dealt out ... and I think a total of 14 ... it was more like wrestling! Every time someone picked up a card a fist-fight inclusive of pushing, pulling, tugging, nudging, head-bangs! ... and of course ... kicking broke out.

Wonder what other folks are upto ... was thinking they'd be enjoying their hols ... but the more I hear about the more of them seem to a part of the work force, intern-ing in places with grandiloquent brand images.

Anyways, priority one now is to finish of the Simulation Project and submit it, then focus on the internship job. Blurrr ... lotsa other knick-knacks to do.

Well here are a few more signs that the intern isn't working out ...

Close Quote :: "The only way out of the circle is to stop spinning."

~ Arc.

Office Office

Muzik :: Mehul - Hey Bhagwan (coz there's no light ... For those unacquainted with the term it's when there is no electricity ... yes, that happens here, a lot! So anyhow, here I am sitting on a desktop typing away into my MSN window [I tabbed blogger into it - MSN Messenger :)]. Oh and for those of you still stuck up on the power-cut, well I am still able to blog because only one phase has gone (just my luck!) so there're no lights, fans or aircon but the desktop terminal is still alive and we're expected to slog through conditions that can easily be classified as sweltering. And that causes Mehul, the guy sitting next to me yelp a plea of "Hey Bhagwan" which can roughly be translated to OMG.

So now coming back to the topic ... Office. Well as much as I'd love to, it wouldn't be apt for me to reveal the true nature of things that go through the medium of this blog, all I can say is that it's an experience like you'd never have expected ... and one that takes a while to settle into.

Anyways, now a days, I am in a cycle that ensure I can't do anything even mildly productive (barring the work @ office). I need to break free now and complete the simulation project ... refer book section above.

My last few posts were ones typed in a real hurry, well now that I can blog from office without having to go through IE I guess the next few will be a bit more read-worthy.

Hey, lights're back ... guess I'll get back to work ... anyways, every[working]one should try blogging via MSN Messenger by tabbing the service provider ... Hey! I am on intern here, gimme a break! No time to read :( ]

So Here I am rambling again ... I'll be away for the weekend. Thoughts in head, it's simply amazing how we mean to be just friendly and without even realising it, end up saying something that seems just so wrong. Is it just the fact that communication is now more via text [SMS / internet] and has lost the 'human touch' ... or are the perspectives of the two so different that anything said, just doesn't mean the same thing ... or is it just the mind playing tricks ...?

Moving along ... internships can be boring ... they really don't work you to your potential, I'd expect that ... but it's utterly hopeless when the assigned work is something you could do even if you never went to school ... make you almost regret ever having gone to school =P. Anyhow, it'll still be some fun working here ...

Hey Geri ... completely sympathize with you ... now I see why your internship had you down ... and now I under stand Joanna's reactions to the word "internship". It's not a new dream, to 'spread your wings and fly'. We see it in myths (the flight of Icarus), you must've experienced it in your own lives and today, we hear it in songs (Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway, R.Kelly - I believe I can fly ...) too. So what happens when a bunch of SMU students get bent upon the idea of flight? No, you don't get the Wright Bros. again ... but close! You get the SMUXceed Skydiving Team. Why you may ask would anyone want to jump out of a plane in flight with no imminent threat? Let's find out ...

Ngiang Boon Loong wishes to skydives because, "The spirit of skydiving is one of believing that nothing is impossible ..." while Paul says "To push myself both physically and mentally; taking a step toward finding my own limitations and extremes and going outside my own comfort-zone. " So, what's my take on it having been a part of the same team? Well coz this is as 'extreme' as is available to me right now ... I'd love to go a step further, but alas.

So they tread this path to conquer the skies and in their walk do they conquer their fears? Most people do find the thought of jumping out of a plane cruising somewhere across the blue yonder scary. Do the daredevils of the skies have apprehensions? They recently excursion-ed to Genting, Malaysia for an ultimate vertical wind-tunnel thrust and here are some thoughts before they went in ... well at least here's mine, "Big Tunnel, with big fan and lotsa wind … Hope it’s fun!"

In India ...

Muzik :: 3 Doors Down - Here Without You
Mood :: Reality sinking in ... old reality fading into fantasy.
Book :: Dan Brown - Angels & Demons [It talks of vertical wind-tunnels ... Well, there isn't a vertical wind-tunnel in here, nor do we have a wall handy to climb up and belay on. Did manage to play a round of badminton though. Read a few books. The group was greeted with pizza and cake (no, not Gek Peng, the real thing … well she was there too). So what was the occasion? Well as put by Shannon, it was the birthday of the SISS Boys ... well, it was the birthday of David and Isaacs' is tomorrow ... oh yeah, today’s mine too! Well, as the card was handed out and I later read, left like words from the hearts. Anyways, Cake and Pizzas was not the end of it, in fact just the beginning. After this we went out for dinner, Steve’s treat. For those of you who don't know, Steve refers to Steven Miller, the Dean of SIS. Well, I quite crashed after that was half-asleep during the dinner itself actually. Anyways, so another day came to a close.

=The End=

Birthdays ...

Erm, happy Easter everyone! Okie, so it's that day again, Ngiap Hwee (the pronounceable name is ambiguous) finally managed to drag me down to expo. They put on a pretty good show, or at least better than what I had been expecting. That's when they went over the story of Easter as per the bible (and to think, people say they don't read books these days ...) Much like most religions a lot is still murky about this one, they all seekth the 'Holy Grail' while actually, no one really know what it even is!

Not so far away in a distant part of the world, on which some of my thought is now bent, princess celebrates her birthday, or at least I think she'd be celebrating it ... right? Anyways, birthday wishes to you. Rahil, I sent you an email about 6 days ago wishing you a happy birthday as well, a 'read receipt' would do a world of good! Since we are oscillating a few days here and there, 8 days later is Saanyas' birthday if I do correctly remember (ok fine, I remember birthdays, it's not a crime!). So birthday wishes to everyone ...

Sonu, I sent you a mail on your birthday as well, aap bhi agar reply kar detey to ... aur Shui ko to in person wish kar hi diya tha, so that wraps up most of the birthdays around this time. Another one is neigh, but I shall expound on that one in my next post.

That's all for now, back to work.

Another blog ...

So, I stopped blogging for a while big deal, it's not like the end of the world or anything! I mean I haven't written a poem for approximately just as long (if not longer). Anyways, life isn't how it used to be, term 2 if put simply was (and still is) "EVIL". No time for blogging or poetry or anything much at all actually ... but guess what, I am back ...

It's summer hols and not a minute to spare ... working on SISS gathering and appreciation by the dean event on the 19th. Followed by the java revision classes from the 19th to the 21st ... should be fun being on the other side for a change. This is followed by 1st aid training from 24th to 27th. By now the Term would've begun and the next week-end would be the wind-tunnel trip. Ofcourse alongside this I'll be doing the web-site dsign for SMUX DDE '06 and probably also working on the Peer Helpers web-site and the SMUX Xceed Team, Sky Diving web portal. Also other stuff like the ISA Spotlight, the SIS Orientation camp etc. Also the wanting to read up on how write plug-ins for excel in C++ and learn how to play guitar ... and ofcourse the summer internship at Deloitte ... I see fun times lie ahead! =)

That's all for now ... blogging out!
